Newport over Labor Day

We need to find several rooms as cheap as possible for Thur. %26amp; Fri. of Labor Day weekend in Newport, RI. This will be the first stop of a wedding trip which will eventally end on the New Jersey shore, so everything is expensive. I have confirmed reservations at Motel 6, but would like something a bit better, but reasonable. Have not had any luck. Any secrets out there? We aren%26#39;t renting a car and will depend on a relative in the city for transportation, so need to stay in town, not out in Providence, Warwick, etc.

The Motel 6 is actually not that bad. You%26#39;re not on the water and the rooms aren%26#39;t gorgeous but they%26#39;re clean %26amp; next door to a strip mall so if you need anything at the grocery store or Walmart or TJ Maxx (someone is going to realize they need pantyhose an hour before the wedding, right?) it%26#39;s right there and it%26#39;s on a bus line. There is an adult video place across the street and there%26#39;s a few other businesses that make that part of town look a little seedy but it%26#39;s really not as bad as it looks.

I have done searches for the cheapest, yet safe place for relatives from out of town staying in Newport and the best bet turned out to be the Motel 6.

Hi Jean...I would try Inn Bliss. We are staying there just a few weeks before you are arriving and we are paying $120 per night. We have been there before and returning for our anniversary.

Hi Jean -

What do you consider reasonable? I am only asking because the price range is different for everyone. Also - I agree with Sheila - Motel 6 is clean and the area is pretty safe.
