some great hotels right in walking distance to eveything?

Going to a wedding in June, and want to be in the center of Newport for walking around to restaurants, bars, and shopping...Are only thoughts so far are Newport Harbor Hotel, and Marriott..Are there any other in town??? We were told ocean cliff, where the wedding is may already be booked, and is within 15 minutes to everything by car

Try the Hyatt on Goat Island, which is right in Newport Harbor. You can walk from there to the wharf area, which has many shops and restaurants. Also consider B%26amp;Bs or inns (Francis Malbone, Hydrangea House, etc.) that are in abundance in the Newport area, many of them centrally located. Check B%26amp;B websites for more info.

I would recemmend the Francis Malbone House. It is in town, walking dustance to everything and very nice.

The Viking Hotel is old, beautiful, and smack in the middle of everything. Some of their rooms are small, but I think it%26#39;s very charming, and their top-floor deck has a bar with an awesome view of the harbor. I%26#39;d much prefer a turn-of-the-century building to the newer ones, just MHO.

We stayed at the Viking Hotel in Summer 2006 and it was a great hotel to spend a couple of days at. It is a 10mins walk to the center of everything. Romms are a touch small but we only slept there so it didn%26#39;t bother us. We were booked at the Attwater Villa, but one look was enough to make us scedaddle out of there.
