Dining suggestions needed for Newport, also dance bars

Any suggestions for any kind of funky, fun restaurants within walking distance of downtown Newport would be appreciated. We like Asian fusion cuisine. Also dance bars that play funky Motown or ragge.

Thanks a miilion

What are your ages ?

Nightlife is limited in Newport . Last call is 12:45 AM .

The best spot is The Newport Blues Cafe %26#39; ( on Thames St.)

You can check out entertainment at gonewprt.com .

The Funky Monkey and Red Parrot ( less expansive) are two restaurants that will interest you . Red Parrot in nearer the Blues Cafe . But Newport is big on Seafood !

Other bars ( if you are under 25 ) are the outside at Christies and The Rhino . There are a couple other bars with bands in the area .

You might catch a reagae performance in the afternoon at one of the bars . Also The Blues Cafe has some shows coming up $25 -$40 adm. So check out their website .

You should try Pop on Broadway for sure for funky music and great food. Conveniently located down the blockk is Salvation Cafe where we LOVE to go when we are in town, they have a tiki bar in the back. You could also try down stairs at the Clarke Cooke House for dancing, it called the Boom Boom room (very cheesey).....=)

We love Salvation and Pop! They are on Broadway away from the tourists traps and not too many people go there because it%26#39;s not on the waterfront (no amatures!).

We just returned from Newport and found that, Christy%26#39;s a favorite dance spot, has closed. But all their customers seemed to be walking a few peirs down to Vincents - which ialso has an outdoor tent on the water. The live band was not that great, but the crowd was huge and everyone was having a great time. It was like being at a wedding without having to buy a gift or dress up! There is no cover charge if you get there early enough.

We also tried Pelman One East which is an Irish bar with good bands. We saw Felix Brown which is kind of a funk/rap band and lots of folks were dancing up a storm there. The $15 cover charge per person hurts!
