maple leaf cottage

Anyone have any feedback on this place?

I rented the house and adjacent cottage in July 2004 for two weeks. I had a great time. I rented the house through Ballard Hall Realty.

I liked the house alot because it had the true Block Island charm. It was at least 120 years old, had crooked steps and old but effecient kitchen and 3 bedrooms upstairs. The bedrooms aer small and not private - much like any old house, but they do have charm. There is also a guest cottage adjacent to the house that has a living room and then a loft bedroom with spiral steps.

The best part of this house is the property, which has some of the best views on the island. The house is set about 1/4 the way up beacon hill road and is private on a large piece of property, but the distant views of the ocean are great. Also the brick patio outside was nice to sit, relax and read. There is a nice hammock on the other side of the house. The lawn is a beautifu lgentle rolling slope downwards.

You can walk to town in about 15 minutes fro this house too

I understand that when the whole house is not rented they do rent out rooms as a B%26amp;B. The rooms are less private than other palces on the island (unless you have the cottage) and the bathroom is shared in the main house, but is has a quirky charm that you can only get on a small island.

Great! I have had my eye on that place for a while, but have never been able to find much info. The funky style of an old house is exactly what caught my eye - thansk for the report!
