My girlfriend just moved out to Newport, Our Anniversary is coming up in two weeks, I have never been there and she is also unfamilair with the area, Im looking to plan a romantic evening, with a nice romantic restaurant, looking for nice ambiance with some shock value, Also any suggestions will be greatly appreciated for anything we can do in the day.. Pls help!

I heard sometimes Astors Beechwood has dinners and evening performances. Also Canfield House or if you want really over priced food with great atmosphere either Castle hill of Chanler on CliffWalk

There are some gorgeous boats you can charter for the day. I haven%26#39;t done anything other than the big boat tours because I get seasick on sailboats. I just did a quick google search and there%26#39;s a site for a company called sightsailing.com that looks beautiful.
Also, if you have a chance to go over to Bannister%26#39;s Wharf (not in two weeks, I mean now) Steve Forbes yacht, the Highlander was docked there last night.
Inn at Castlehill. The atmosphere is unsurpasses and the service and food are excellent! You will love it.
The best dining in Newport is at Castle Hill; nothing else comes close. The setting overlooking the entrance to the bay is also unique. One of the posts above says it is overpriced, and my response is that person doesn%26#39;t value fine dining--you get what you pay for. If you value fine dining it is priced accordingly.
On the waterfront downtown there are a group of good restaurants, including The West Deck (the party scene on the outdoor deck on weekends in the summer may provide the shock value we want), the Cheeky Monkey (funky and sometimes inconsistent food quality and service, but definitely a different experience), the Mooring (newly renovated and reopened, and probably the best seafood in town right now, and they serve many non-seafood items), the Black Pearl (formal dining room, a more relaxed pub side, and even an outdoor patio), and 22 Bowen%26#39;s (a classic steakhouse, with Prime beef etc, plus some really good seafood as well).
Off the waterfront there is the White Horse Tavern, a historic building with a good fine dining menu, and they recently introduced a lighter fare menu upstairs in a bistro setting.
Daytime recreation includes: the beaches, sail or power boat rides, mansion tours, bike riding, walking the Cliff Walk.
Enjoy your anniversary; Newport in the summer is a good place to celebrate special times together.
