Visiting Rhode Island Second Week of June 2006

There will be three of us touring Rhode Island for week of June 10-17.

It%26#39;s our first time there and we want to get the flavor of Rhode Island and, hopefully, have some time in Boston, MA as well.

Any suggestions on how to get a real feel for the area in that period of time?

We are three adults in our 60s. Will be driving a rental car while there.

To get a good feel for RI I would stick to the coast. Must do%26#39;s are Newport, Narragansett and Watch Hill. The sleepy area of RI that I also suggest is Little Compton and the area across the state line in Westport Point, MA.

Also be sure to visit Providence, see it%26#39;s wonderful architecture, visit an historical home, a national monument, an art museum, take a leisurely walk along the rivers or the ';mile of history';, eat at a great restaurant. You might want to start with a guided walking tour to get your bearings and learn some of the state%26#39;s history.
