I am trying to make vacation plans for the family. We are looking at Rhode Island...Newport, etc. (6 adults and a 3 year old). I need to know is there a beach in newport for swimming. Any suggestions for a good place to stay...with a pool?

Newport does have a few swimming beaches (1st and 2nd Beaches come to mind). Accessibiilty can be a problem (i.e. parking). If you don%26#39;t mind walking it should work out. RI has some other fabulous beaches with various levels of accessibility for out-of-towners - our favorite is East Beach in Charlestown, Block Island is a great day trip with great beaches, too. Narragansett Town Beach is great, too. Don%26#39;t kno wabout hotels, I am a local.

If you want to stay in the heart of everything, there are a few condo associations on the wharf%26#39;s, with pools. I can%26#39;t think of their names of the top of my heads, we usually rent houses, but this website is pretty helpful for finding rentals....www.vrbo.com
if you want hotel rooms - hyatt has a great pool - very expensive in summer - but a nice facility.
