Roger Williams Park and Zoo

When in Rhode Island you should check out Providence%26#39;s Crown Jewel.... Roger Williams Park and Zoo. The Museum of Natural History is quite beautiful both inside and out. The Marble Temple of Music is quite a site, and of course the zoo is spectacular, as well as all of the other incredible features this Park has to offer!!

Roger Williams Park and Zoo

Roger Williams Park was indeed wonderful and charming in every way. We really loved it. They have great Zoo and it is really nicely set up. They have lots of different animals with really neat exhibits. We love the Museum of Natural History it had a planetarium in there as well. Just got back from a trip to RI they do have a wonderful Park.

Roger Williams Park and Zoo

We will be going to RI sometime this Summer or Fall... probably just for a long weekend. We will be traveling with our 3 kids -- ages 6+mths by summer/fall time, 2 1/2 yo and a 5 1/2 yo. We%26#39;ve heard that this Zoo is nice and were planning on taking the kids there. Is this Museum of Natural History in that same vicinity as well? Can we do both things in one day? Does the museum have dino stuff (our kidsa re reallyinto dinosaurs!)??

How far is this from the Newport area/Portsmouth area?

Thanks for any info on these places!

Roger Williams zoo and all it encompasses can easily be done in one day. Pack a picnic if you can as there are lots of great spots to sit and relax for awhile. There is a nice playground for your little ones as well as a carousel. The zoo is currently showing the dinosaur exhibit, addtl charge at admission. Not sure when this runs until (Labor day..maybe) but check the website. Early fall would definitely be the most economical time of yr to visit.

For beaches with kids, check out Robert Wheeler beach (Sand Hill Cove) and down the road to Aunt Carrie%26#39;s for some economical and delicious seafood. Robert Wheeler has warm showers in the ladies room area that cost 25 cents so you can clean off before heading back into the car.

Depending on how you go and how fast your drive, the zoo is probably about 45 - 1 hour away from portsmouth and newport.

I believe it is Roger Wheeler Beach....
