Need a great vacation place for a week!

Our daughter is participating in the 2006 World Scholar-Athlete Games on the campus of Rhode Island University during the week of June 24-July 2, 2006. Our family would like to vacation in the area while our daughter competes that week. We are looking for a great vacation home/condo/rental for the week. We do not know the area and would love to talk to someone that has an interest in renting to us. We are from Green Bay, WI, yes, home of the Green Bay Packers! It is illegal for homeowners to rent for a week at a time, try oceanstaterentals.com or vrbo.com, we%26#39;ve always had luck at vrbo for short term rentals (some people still do short term rentals although illegal). Good luck and have fun!

Vbro is great - also go to craigslist.com - click on providence and post for newport in housing needed.

You will be sure to get a response from someone on craigs list quickly - it never fails - i spend hours a week on that site.

It is NOT illegal to rent by the week in most communities in RI, except in the city of Newport. The other two towns on Aquidneck Island, Middletown and Portsmouth, have many legal weekly rentals, most of which can be found online. In addition, many of the real estae agencies in the city have rental agents who can find you weekly rentals in the larger and better quality category.

You may also want to consider a rental in the South Kingston area around URI. There are many beach properties available for the week, again they can be found either online or by contacting local real estate offices.

FYI, the major problem you will find with weekly rentals and your travel dates is that most are on a Sat. to Fri. basis. In addition to the Games, the Tall Ships and the Women%26#39;s PGA Golf tournement will be taking place in Newport at the end of June. I strongly advise that you make reservations somewhere ASAP as the publicity for those events is just starting to hit the press. You will find that Newport is a considerable distance from URI and will be much pricier than lodging in ';South County'; as Washington County is generally called.
