Hi. Would anyone out there know the actual rate for parking near or around the visitor%26#39;s center? I know they give a $2.00 voucher but I%26#39;d like to know the actual cost if I could. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
Parking costs downtown Newport
I%26#39;m not totally positive, but I think the last time I paid for parking around there, it was around 5 bucks. There%26#39;s also a free lot up the hill above Thames street that you also might want to investigate. If you%26#39;re coming in at a time when there%26#39;s not a lot of tourists, you%26#39;d probably be able to find a spot there.

I paid $0.25 per 15 minutes at a meter yesterday, though it was quite a few blaocks from the visitor center.
Thanks so much for your replies, I really appreciate it. Am coming up this week. Although it looks like rain, I%26#39;m still very excited.
You can park at the visitor center for free for the first 30 minutes . You can get a $2 all day rate if you get an all day bus pass. The visitor center itself can give you information about parking around town. BTW the mansion tours have free parking .
We just got back from our trip to Newport and we parked at the Visitor Center for $2.00. It was perfect. We walked to most of the other places and took the shuttle bus to them mansions. What a lovely time we had. Thanks to all who responded.
we also have parked at the visitors center for 2.00 it was great.
We did the tour of the Breakers then left our car in their free lot and then did the Cliff Walk. Where is the free lot above Thames. Last time we there in late October it was mentioned to us but we could never find it.
