Is there a boat/ferry out of Newprt to Providence? How far is it? I went to Providence 15 years ago and I remember being in an area full of art - where is this?
Providence, RI
there has been a lot written about the newport - providence ferry on this forum, a short search can probably answer all of your questions.
Providence, RI
Fifteen years ago, area full of art --- hmmm, I can only think that maybe you were near the RI School of Design and its great museum. Also the South Main Street area and East Side, which are all next to each other. Brown University and Thayer Street are also nearby.
And there is a Providence to Newport ferry that sails out from Allens Avenue. It has a web site for more information.
You%26#39;re probably thinking of Wickenden Street, which still has a lot of art and a bit of a funky sense. Also, new galleries are being opened along Westminster Street, right in town. RISD has opened a shop filled with all sorts of works by professors and former students. A lot has changed here in the past ten years, all for the good. If you have a chance, see Waterplace Park, where the river winds to a basin.
