My husband and I would like to stay near the water/whart/ boats and want to be able to walk to dinner etc. I believe the Marriott in Newport is booked for the weekend we are coming. There are about 20 othe Marriott%26#39;s in the surrounding area. Which Marriott would you recommend in the next closest town?. We want to use our Marriott points toward our room. Any help would be appreciated.
Which Marriott to stay at...there are two marriots in providence - the courtyard near the trainstation and the providence place mall and the ';regular'; marriot on orms street. both are close to the highways, but providence is about 30-45 minutes from newport.
fall river, ma and new bedford, ma i don%26#39;t think have marriotts.
if you do consider the providence ones, the courtyard is pretty much new and is better located for walking to various attractions.

Which Marriott to stay at...If you want to be near it all and the Marriott is booked, the Hyatt is rght on the water with wnderful views.
There are a couple of other places, or try one of the many timeshares, almost all right on the water and within walking distance to restaurants and attractions. Just bring good walking wear.
Prices will still be high for the next month.
Newport has many other great spots like the Hyatt regency. Try searching Goat Island hotel. thats the center of Newport, RI harbor. www.newport.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp
There is the Hotel Viking, but that is Bellevue Ave and not the waterfront. It is 1st class www.hotelviking.com
The Newport Harbor Hotel and Marina is as close as you can get to being in the middle of everything. www.newporthotel.com
