We will be visiting Newport on a cruise in the fall. How far from where the ship tenders you are ticket purchases for Doris Duke Mansion @ Rough Point? Also, how far and how do you get to Cliff Walk from tender area.

Cliff Walk

Ships dock in Newport near and along America%26#39;s Cup Ave near the Gateway Visitor%26#39;s Center where you can buy tickets for Rough Point, an easy walk off ship. Rough Point has a courtesy shuttle from the Visitor%26#39;s Center. For more info, check out their site at

The Cliff Walk fronts the ocean behind the Doris Duke mansion and all the mansions along Bellevue Ave. The entire walk is about 5 mi / 8 km. You can take the trolley from the visitor%26#39;s center to the north end of the walk near Easton%26#39;s Beach, or to Ledge Ave at the bottom of Bellevue Ave. (near the Duke mansion) down which you can walk to pick up the south end of the walk and head north. The walk is narrower and rockier in the southern area. The most popular and easier part to walk is the north end which has several cut throughs back to Bellevue Ave. should you want to get off.
