DC to Providence

Has anyone taken Amtrak and a plane from Washington to Providence? Which mode of transportation did you prefer?

DC to Providence

I%26#39;ve done both and somewhat prefer the train. It takes longer and may cost more, but the train goes directly downtown in both cities.

The best airfares are likely to be from BWI to Providence, but it is a good distance from the city. Dulles is also quite far from the city, so when flying Reagan is by far the most convenient from DC. It has its own metro stop, while the others require a combination of metro and shuttle or a pricey taxi.

DC to Providence

The biggest problem is that TF Green airport is actually in Warwick and is still a good 15 to 20 minutes from downtown depending on the traffic. Public transportation downtown is adequate, so unless you want to ride a bus downtown or rent a car, taking the train will put you right downton.
