Newport in midweek November

Looking to get away midweek in November. Do you recommend Castle Hill or Chanler. We are in our late 40%26#39;s looking for a relaxing romantic few days. Are ther enough restaurants and daytime activities going on during this time? Any recommended things to see or do?

The main things to do will be the Mansion Tours ( Try the Breaker%26#39;s and Elms ) , Special events at the Newport Blues Cafe%26#39; ( they have a website) , and sightseeing in general . There are also winery tastings , Tennis Hall of Fame tours , and shopping ( try the area near the Tennis HoF) . You might want to drive to Jamestown and Naragansette for sightseeing and dining . The Coast Guard House Restaurant in Naragansette is Excellent . There are nice small casual restaurants in Jamestown . There is also the Newport Grand Casino , which is basically just a slot parlor , but you can kill an hour or two . Go to gonewport.com for more information .

My husband and I have stayed in both the Chanler and Castlehill. We now exclusively stay in Castlehill. It is a wonder ful place to stay! I recommend staying in one of the beach houses. It is private and in an unsurpassed location. Although it is November, weather permitting, you can sit on your deck and enjoy the waves rolling in. We have stayed in December and have had beautiful days when we sat on the deck and just enjoyed the scenery and peace and quite. I can not say enough good things about the staff, the accommodations, and the experience. My husband and I will be there in mid November as well. If you are looking for a romantic, peaceful getaway, this is most definitely the place. The location of the Chanler is not nearly as nice and not nearly as private. The Chanler has not perfected the service it provides by any means. The Chanler has spared no expense in decoration but Castlehill provides a much better experience. There are many nice restaurants in Newport as well. I would recommend Asterix, Castlehill, White horse tavern. For a more casual dinner I would recommend Scales and Shells, Black Pearl. I can give you more details on restaurants if you would like. Let me know. The Mansions are a must and a ride to the bird santuary is quite nice. Enjoy!

If you want romance and can afford it (and you probably can get a deal in November, especially mid-week), then it%26#39;s Castle Hill.

Beach house 37 is at the end making it the most private unit. There are eight beach houses in two sections of 4. 34 is my favorite. It is at the end of the second row of beach houses. If you can imagine this. My husband and I are staying in 34 during our November stay. 33 and 30 are end units as well, meaning you will not have any neighbors on one side and unobstructed views from front and side of the unit rather than the front only. During the week, in November, it will cost you 329.00 per night. The same room during July and August is 1100.00 per night. I guess you can say, it is a bargain, considering. Their prices went up a bit since they built the new beach cottages. We have stayed in the beach cottages as well but the beach houses are nicer and more spacious. You will have a private deck on the beach, a king bed with nice linens, a flat screen TV, a lovely bathroom with a Kohler Jacuzzi and a kitchenette. A full breakfast is served in the main house or in your room for a nominal fee. You can hear the waves crash against the shore at night and it is peaceful and quite. Quite lovely. You better hurry and make reservations they are very popular, even in the off season. Enjoy!

Forgot about restaurants for casual dining. It depends what you like. If you like seafood, and Newport has plenty, I would recommend Scales and Shells for a casual night out. During the summer lines form to get in for dinner. They are cash only and have seafood only. You will not find any meat on the menu. Mamma Luisa%26#39;s and Purini%26#39;s are good if you like Italian. I would try Black Pearl for lunch. It has a real ';Newport feel.'; I would recommend their Clam Chowder, Lobster salad, Lobster salad on a croussiant or the crab benedict. All very good.

One more recommendation; West Deck, it is on Waites Warf, off Themes, is one of our favorite restaurants. Casual atmosphere and great food.

Thank you all for your help. Just came back from our stay at Castle Hill Beach House 32. We had a wonderful experience! The weather was perfect, we listened to the waves at night with the windows wide open. Dinner at the West Deck was great and the dining at CH was spectacular. Can%26#39;t wait to go back!
