Wedding restaurant

I want to have an informal wedding in Newport. I plan on having a larger reception held at my home in Pa at another date for the family, but I want an intimate ceremony. I dont know if I will go for a church ceremony or waterfront but I do know I want to have a nice casual dinner afterwards. Any suggestions for a casual, intimate, not too fancy , appropriate place to spend our ceremony dinner for 25 people? The reason we don%26#39;t want ';too fancy'; isnt economically related (although we dont have a huge budget) but more than my fiance and I do not enjoy seafood and most food served at expensive restaurants. We are simple casual couple that would like to eat hamburgers at a place like The Red Parrot, but are concerned that out family will think we are cheap. Any advice?

The Mooring has a private room on the water for a group of this size, and their menu is the same for lunch and dinner, so you can have good, but informal food, and there are plenty of non-seafood choices.

The Brick Alley Pub has an upstairs private party room, and their menu is similar to the Red Parrot%26#39;s.

If the wedding is in mid-winter, some of the smaller restaurants will shut down to the public for a private group of 25 if you give them a minimum expenditure guarantee.

Good luck.

My opinion would depend on what time of year the wedding is. If it%26#39;s late spring / summer you may want to look for outdoor places like The West Deck (http://www.eatri.com/WestDeck/) . I don%26#39;t like their outdoor menu but, I%26#39;ve been there at the outside bar when they%26#39;ve had private parties at the tables by the water and I bet they give you choices from the indoor (excellent!) menu.

Are you looking for a certian kind of cuisine? I%26#39;m hooked lately on Mamma Luisa%26#39;s (http://www.mammaluisa.com/) which has great Italian food. It%26#39;s fancy enough to impress but not expensive at all for what you get and the restaurant is made up of small dining rooms. I bet they could easily close one room off for your group.
